The Violet aroma is well-known but very few are able to identify it and it is often confused with other floral aromas. It usually recalls sweets and cleaning products for the home. Once memorized, it is easy to identify when present in food and beverages.
It is expressed in the bouquet of many Red Wines, for example, some Bordeaux, Barolo, Barbaresco, and in some wines made of the Petit Verdot, Sangiovese and Merlot grape varieties.
