Strawberry

The Strawberry scent in a Red Wine can recall either the fresh fruit, almost like a wild strawberry, or a very ripe fruit or jam. It is well known by everybody, as it is often found it candies and sweets, and most people can accurately identify it in a blind smell test.

In Red Wines it usually presents itself due to the sugars in the fermentation process and therefore it is a secondary smell.

This olfactory sample is closest to the fresh fruit nuance. It is an aroma that can be found in many wines obtained by different grape varieties, two of which being Pinot Noir and Gamay.
